Some Hindu communities mark the last day as Bhai Dooj or the regional equivalent, which is dedicated to the bond between sister and brother, while other Hindu and Sikh craftsmen communities mark this day as Vishwakarma Puja and observe it by performing maintenance in their work spaces and offering prayers. In some parts of India, the day after Lakshmi Puja is marked with the Govardhan Puja and Balipratipada (Padwa).

The third day is the day of Lakshmi Puja and the darkest night of the traditional month. Diwali is usually celebrated twenty days after the Vijayadashami (Dussehra, Dasara, Dasain) festival, with Dhanteras, or the regional equivalent, marking the first day of the festival when celebrants prepare by cleaning their homes and making decorations on the floor, such as rangolis. The five-day long festival originated in the Indian subcontinent and is mentioned in early Sanskrit texts. Diwali is also a major cultural event for the Hindu, Sikh and Jain diaspora. During Diwali, people wear their finest clothes, illuminate the interior and exterior of their homes with diyas and rangoli, perform worship ceremonies of Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and wealth, light fireworks, and partake in family feasts, where mithai ( sweets) and gifts are shared. In the lead-up to Diwali, celebrants will prepare by cleaning, renovating, and decorating their homes and workplaces with diyas (oil lamps) and rangolis (colorful art circle patterns). Furthermore, it is, in some regions, a celebration of the day Rama returned to his kingdom Ayodhya with his wife Sita and his brother Lakshmana after defeating Ravana in Lanka and serving 14 years of exile. The festival is widely associated with Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity, with many other regional traditions connecting the holiday to Sita and Rama, Vishnu, Krishna, Yama, Yami, Durga, Kali, Hanuman, Ganesha, Kubera, Dhanvantari, or Vishvakarman. One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance". The festival usually lasts five days and is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika (between mid-October and mid-November). 24 ( Govardhan Puja/ Balipratipada/ Gujarati New Year)ĭiwali (Jainism), Bandi Chhor Divas, Tihar, Swanti, Sohrai, Bandnaĭiwali ( English: / d ɪ ˈ w ɑː l iː/ Deepavali ( IAST: dīpāvalī) or Divali related to Jain Diwali, Bandi Chhor Divas, Tihar, Swanti, Sohrai and Bandna) is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists, notably Newar Buddhists.23 ( Lakshmi Puja/ Kali Puja/Sharda Puja/Kedar Gauri Vrat).22 ( Naraka Chaturdashi/Kali Chaudas/Hanuman Puja/Chhoti Diwali).5 ( Govardhan Puja/ Balipratipada/ Gujarati New Year).4 ( Lakshmi Puja/ Kali Puja/Sharda Puja/Kedar Gauri Vrat).3 ( Naraka Chaturdashi/Kali Chaudas/Hanuman Puja/Chhoti Diwali).Kārttika māsa, śukla pakṣa, dvitīya tithiĪshvin, Kartika, Krishna, Thrayodashi, Kartika, Shukla, Dwitiya Kārttika māsa (pūrṇimānta), kṛṣṇa pakṣa, trayodaśī tithi Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, some Buddhists (notably Newar Buddhists) ĭiya lighting, puja, home decoration, shopping, fireworks, fasting, gifts, feast and sweets Though Zebra is a powerhouse any way you look at it, the Diva filters and other oddities in HZ make it an essential addition to ones arsenal.Rangoli decorations, made using coloured fine powder or sand, are popular during Diwali. His stuff really helped me with my own sound design studies, not to mention the devastating HZ.Īnd I too agree with John, it's way better to get HZ with your Zebra (and super fun to hear how easy it is to get a cinematic sound to your music with that set). I have to mention Simon Stockhausen's Zebra preset packs like 1st Encounter and 2nd Thoughts, both are really creative.

I personally go to Zebra as a default, both because I know it top to bottom and inside/out, plus I absolutely adore (and prefer over any other) the sound. It has a ton of cool functions, and plenty of presets to both fool with and learn from. However, from the month or two I owned Omnisphere, I could see where it could be a number one synth for anyone. Electra, Diva, Bazille, a bunch of Arturia.oh heck, too many to list lol!). I had Omnisphere but sold it because I studied the heck out of Zebra/HZ and didn't feel as though I needed it anymore (I should mention that I have a ton of synths anyway, like Wavemapper/'generator, Harmor and Sytrus, Largo, PPG Wave 3.
